What would be / was your first reaction to an attack, be it mugging, robbery, hijacking or an assault. The poll is completely anonymous so be honest.

I'll be open on my vote here as it even reflects my nickname on this forum. I will gladly back away as long as I have somewhere to back away/down to. The moment I or my loved ones are in immediate danger I switch over to the 'Strike without hesitation' option.

I m assuming you are talking about a holdup or hijacking here so I put down cooperate and strategize however I guess it would be somewhere between that and the cower option.i I think if the guy see that you are thinking and planning too much he might get a bit more agressive, I'm thinking just let him be the boss or at least think he is and let him take the damn cell phone and wallet, but if you see that your life is about to be ended then you have nothing to lose and open up on him.

I think I have the BEST reaction to an attack. Don't be there in the 1st place !

I'm afraid that this question might be too generalised, violent crimes differ in approach and intensity and as such the response of thw ould be-victim can never be the same.

I can run fast, but I think it's not always possible or a good idea to run away!
I think I would just freeze in panic!

The best way to react would be based on the nature of the attack. Intensity as well matters as you would not want to run whereas a gun is being pointed at you. The first step would be not to panic.

I'd weigh up to situation and react accordingly. Each incident will be different and will need a different approach. Only problem is is the time taken to think about it would be very, very small so quick thinking is a must.

If all the other guy wants is your money, just give it to him. However, if what he wants is your life, you have nothing to lose by fighting. Hit then run. In that order. If the other guy is intent on killing you, he can do it in less than the time it takes for you to turn to run. So hit and run.
