    Park in lighted areas

In a way, I can understand why people would want to park their car farther away from others. Sometimes you want to park under a tree for the shade, for instance. If you do this, keep in mind, you may be in an area that could cause you to be a target. If a criminal wants to attack, you will be an easy target! Park in well-lit spaces, and in spots where you will be seen by others.

To stay safe, you need to go against conventional fitness advice by parking as close as possible to your locale. Having a car with a push-button unlock system could also save time in the event that you need to get into your car quickly and speed away.

Conventional fitness advice is only concerned about sedentary people. Those of us who are active anyway shouldn't be worrying about getting a few extra steps in on the way to a shop! Another thing is if you are waiting for someone to bring the car around, don't wait outside alone if it's dark. Watch from inside the doors.

Watching from inside the doors is great advice Amirah. I haven't thought to do this myself. I usually wait outside or near the doors. Fitness experts aren't necessarily concerned with you staying safe, either!
